resident-elect Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo said that he hoped his supporters would monitor the implementation of his programs as the seventh president of the country after the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) inaugurated him in October.
'We will keep in touch with supporters. They will become the government's watchdog,' he said Saturday during a gathering with supporters in Ancol, North Jakarta, as quoted by kompas.com.
The current Jakarta governor said that he needed supervision from his supporters to ensure that his policies stayed on track.
Transition team advisor Luhut Pandjaitan said that Jokowi would not abandon his supporters because his winning in the presidential election came from their efforts.
'I hope that we are still one [team] and we can elect Jokowi again in 2019,' said Luhut, who was also a member of the Jokowi-Kalla campaign team. (alz)
