The United Development Party (PPP) is no longer close to Jokowi'€™s side. We all know that there is an internal conflict between its chairman and deputy chairman. And the ice will melt and become hot again because Jokowi won this election.

Chandra Purnama Putra

On the contrary, Jokowi made limited promises in the election campaign compared  to Prabowo, who promised Indonesians the Earth '€” with absolutely no explanation on how, except through leaks, as Jokowi pointed out in the last debate, leaving Prabowo speechless.

Jokowi has stated he does not want to make lots of promises that he cannot deliver on. Instead, he will focus on achieving what he has promised so far.

Besides, ask the residents of Surakarta (who could not bear losing Jokowi) or Jakarta (the majority of whom voted for him to be president) whether he is a fake.

Oh, and in the Constitutional Court case it was judged that the party who carried out fraud in the election was the Gerindra Party. So which one is the fraud again?

Jokowi can only resign as the Jakarta governor with 54 votes from the Jakarta legislative council and his coalition only has 49 seats there. (A former vice governor had to serve another year when his resignation was refused.)

Prabowo'€™s coalition is playing hard to get as Jokowi is pressured to do political bargaining.

I would blame Megawati Soekarnoputri entirely. Long before the election Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had approached her and the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) repeatedly. If only she'€™d bury the hatchet.

And the Golkar Party has announced they'€™ll reject Jokowi'€™s programs that will inconvenience the people. Meaning, they will stop Jokowi from increasing the fuel price. Any idea how long mental revolution takes?

First, Jokowi must not succumb to the mafias and corrupt officials.

Second, he must lead without fear of losing his job, as that would limit his courage in implementing much-needed changes.

And third, his policies must be balanced between economic growth and being pro-poor.

Pro-poor policies must make life more just. If peoples'€™ income cannot be improved soon, then at least public services, such as health and education, must be made more available to all. If necessary, change all the people in charge.

Many lessons can be derived from the 2014 presidential election.

This people-involving activity is centralized among the people themselves.

While Jokowi and Kalla'€™s record is '€œpro-people'€, that of Prabowo-Hatta'€™s is still clear in our memory at how bad their track record was.

In contrast, Jokowi and Kalla'€™s record is so clean.

Jokowi wholeheartedly spent his salary on his people to pay their electricity bills for their commercial purposes, while Kalla managed to bridge the gap between our brothers and sisters in Aceh with the rest of us in the archipelago.

Our immediate responsibility is to improve the country to face the coming of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

We need to make a concerted effort to implement our AEC commitment, which would have been made easier if we had not endured such widespread corruption during the past 69 years of mismanagement.

Is it that we were we too polite to admit our shortcomings? Or was it to ensure a continuing corrupt culture for our future?

The Constitutional Court'€™s decision, which is final and binding, has confirmed victory for Jokowi-Kalla. We are now expecting Prabowo and Hatta to gentlemanly concede defeat and congratulate the president- and vice presidential-elect.

Several days have passed since the court'€™s decision, but the losing pair has remained silent.

To congratulate your rival is no big deal; it is a tradition adopted in other civilized countries.

I voted for Prabowo but I have withdrawn my support because he abandoned the race before reaching the finish line.

Meanwhile, the winning pair started their mission immediately by establishing a transitional working group.

I wish the new leaders success in their efforts for the benefit of the people and the greatness of the Republic of Indonesia.
