Jokowi'€™s transition team discusses presidential, VP division of labor with Boediono

The transition team of president-elect Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will formulate a plan to strengthen the presidential institution.

Transition team deputy chief Andi Widjajanto said that the team had met with Vice President Boediono on Tuesday to discuss the matter, among other issues.

"We were asking for directions from Pak Boediono about the division of labor between the President and the Vice president during the SBY '€“ Boediono era,'€ he said, referring to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono by his initials.

Andi added that Boediono advised Jokowi and vice president-elect Jusuf Kalla to be flexible in how they divided their responsibilities..

'€œBoediono said that during his tenure from 2009 to 2014, the presidential office and the vice presidential office were unified, creating flexibility and allowing the Vice President office to accommodate the President'€™s shifting needs,'€ Andi said.

Andi added that it was possible for Jokowi to change the structure of the presidential institution and that the team was currently making a detailed list of the institutions within the presidential office.

To discuss the matter further, the team planned to meet Dewi Fortuna Anwar, Boediono's deputy of political affairs, he said.
