'Our directors are meeting with officials from the Defense Ministry and the Transportation Ministry to discuss further technical details for the possible closure,' Surya Eka from AP I said Tuesday.
The airport operator previously announced that it would temporarily close the airport from Oct. 1 through 4 and on Oct. 7 to allow the facility, which is located on a naval base, to house 219 military aircraft that will be participating in the TNI's anniversary celebrations.
Referring to the thousands of airline passengers whose flights would be affected should the closure go ahead, East Java Costumer Protection Foundation coordinator Said Sutomo said AP I should be able to provide them with compensation.(dic)
