Writer Pangeran Siahaan began his career as a journalist for a lifestyle magazine.
Nowadays, he has many activities, ranging from writing columns to working as a start-up entrepreneur, a soccer commentator ' and even occasionally as a stand-up comic.
'I consider myself a writer with many extracurricular activities. I present and talk soccer on the weekend, but, on other days, I run a political-branding firm with my partners,' Pangeran told The Jakarta Post recently.
Pangeran said that he has even more in the works. 'We've just launched Outwit.Inc, a comedy portal with videos you can watch on YouTube. I have many interests. We only live once, so why only do one job?'
On gadgets, Pangeran considers himself conservative in choosing tools to support his daily works and activities.
'I use two smartphones and a tablet. I also use a laptop but I'm not sure whether it falls under the 'gadget' category these days,' he said.
'Call me old school, but I think what's important for me to find in a gadget is its value. Price is a big factor for me. I'm not a stingy person, but gadgets are not the area I wish to overspend on. There are [also] food and clothes.'
Pangeran also said that he was no geek: He does not care about brands or manufacturers and is not interested in becoming part of the polarizing gadget cult war between iOS and Android. All he cares about is whether a gadget works.
'I'm not a fanboy of any gadget brand, even though I can understand why there is a techno-bigotry among gadget users. We live in an era where people like to be polarized. Having said that, I always take it easy and use whatever is cool and suitable ' and cheap.'
Gadgets
I use an iPhone 5 and Samsung S3 for business and private use. See? Embracing the best of both worlds. I also use an iPad 2, which is essential for me when I do live soccer commentary.
Apps
Make love, not war, they say, so I wish more people used Tinder. I showed the app to my older colleagues and they went mental when they found out. Swipe left, left, left, oh, swipe right. Yes, that could be really fun.
