ews anchor-turned-politician Wanda Hamidah has announced that she has been dismissed from the National Mandate Party (PAN) for lending her political support to rival presidential pair Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla in the July 9 election.
'The dismissal letter was signed by party chief Hatta Rajasa and secretary-general Taufik Kurniawan. It says I have been dismissed due to my political support for Joko Widodo,' Wanda said on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
Wanda said she could live with the decision, as she had been fully aware of the potential consequences of her actions from the start.
Wanda previously served as a legislator on the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD). Before becoming a politician and legislator, she worked as a news anchor, having been a student activist before that. (++++)
