Forget the past; it was an accident. Really?!

I feel sorry for them because I doubt they'€™ll ever see a penny. Why is justice taking so long?
Oh wait, they'€™re being paid. Never mind.

Philippe Marland

Lapindo is responsible for paying compensation to all the mudflow victims. The Sidoarjo government needs to force the company to pay up as soon as possible.

It is clear that Lapindo is responsible for this tragedy. The government should act without further delay.

I am a well-site geologist and I work on rigs both larger and smaller than Lapindo Brantas'€™ rig, and my job is to ensure that a situation like this never occurs on my rigs.

Within the first day of the mudflow erupting in Sidoardjo, I saw evidence of Lapindo'€™s responsibility for the disaster in the form of daily drill reports and two letters from PT Medco Energi to Lapindo with their concerns of a potential blowout, before it happened, due to Lapindo'€™s careless and irresponsible drilling methods.

We can only hope that president-elect Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo will view this problem in the correct light, instead of blindly defending the wealthy and powerful culprits, including investigating the courts that oversaw this gross miscarriage of justice.
