akarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said that his institution had deployed 9,000 police personnel to secure the inauguration ceremony of new lawmakers of the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He said that the police personnel would guard three major spots, which consisted of the main hall, inside and outside the House.
'All police personnel are ready to guard the ceremony. They have come to guarantee that it runs smoothly,' he said on Wednesday as quoted by Antara news agency.
The deployment of such a large number of police personnel was made because many people would conduct demonstrations during the ceremony, Rikwanto said, adding that it had also deployed a Barracuda armored vehicle and a water cannon to the House compound.
He said that the Indonesian Military (TNI) would also help the police in securing the ceremony. (alz)(++++)
