JAKARTA: Musicians concerned about environmental destruction held a concert in Jakarta on Wednesday to oppose the reclamation of Benoa Bay, Bali.
The concert, held in the Rolling Stone Cafe in South Jakarta, included performances from Bali-based Superman Is Dead (SID) and Melanie Subono.
A surprise came when Iwan Fals took to the stage for a four-song set.
'These friends give their lives for Bali and humanity in general,' Iwan, the nation's legendary balladeer and informal conscious, said, referring to concert organizer ForBali.
SID drummer Jerinx said that the group had dealt with threats.
'We have often been confronted with thugs when staging protests at the governor's office,' said Jerinx.
