AKARTA: Ridho Rhoma says he wants to move out of the shadow of his father, Rhoma Irama, the so-called king of dangdut, with an original album.
'On my past albums, I inserted some songs written by my father; this time I will write my own songs in collaboration with others,' Ridho said, as quoted by kapanlagi.com on Monday.
'I'm excited by the whole process,' he added.
The work, which would be his fifth album, would be released in early 2015.
However, Ridho acknowledged that many fans still wanted him to cover his dad's greatest hits.
'My father's songs are precious intellectual property,' he said. 'Perhaps I will release a special album for my own rendition of his songs.'
