cting Jakarta governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama greeted on Monday Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto, shaking the hand of his former boss at the inauguration of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla at the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) compound.
As Prabowo and Ahok shook hands, they smiled.
This is the first time Prabowo has met with Ahok after Ahok resigned from Gerindra in September over the decision by Prabowo's Red-and-White Coalition to support a bill replacing direct elections with indirect elections of regional heads.
During the 2012 Jakarta gubernatorial election, Prabowo nominated Ahok as his party's representative. He also helped finance Ahok's campaign.
Ahok is slated to become Jakarta governor, replacing Jokowi, who was inaugurated as Indonesia's seventh president on Monday morning. (alz)
