witterati across the archipelago have roundly criticized Gibran Rakabuming, 27, for having displayed anger in front of reporters, an incident broadcast by the private television station, MetroTV, on Monday at 8 a.m., two hours before his father, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo, was inaugurated as Indonesia's seventh president.
With an angry tone and no smile, Gibran, Jokowi's first son, said that he was disappointed with some reporters who called him anak haram (child out of wedlock) because he wasn't present during Jokowi's presidential campaign.
'I rarely show myself to the public because I am not unemployed; I have a job. If I were unemployed, I would always follow my father,' he told reporters.
Gibran runs a catering business in his hometown of Surakarta, Central Java.
'They [journalists] called me an anak haram. Do they think that I don't have a job?' he added.
With a little chuckle, Jokowi, who stood beside Gibran, tried to calm down his son.
'My first son is like me. He works all day long,' he said.
However, Jokowi's reassurances have failed to calm down many of the 29 million Twitter users across the country.
Using the Twitter handle, @pangisyarwi1, Pangi Syarwi Chaniago wrote, 'Jokowi's son is very arrogant #RevolusiMentalAnakJokowi.'
Similarly, @Ine_capuccino, Ine wrote, 'This man is not like his father. He is too sensitive. He gave negative comments when everyone was happy for the victory of his father #AnakJokowi.'
Budi Peloh, the owner of the Twitter handle, @BudiPeloh, wrote, 'Prabowo's son is better than Jokowi's son #anakjokowi," referring to Prabowo Subianto, Jokowi's former rival in the July presidential election. (alz/nfo)(+++)
