cting Jakarta governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said on Thursday that after his inauguration as governor, he would not move into the governor's official residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta, but would open it to the public.
'We'll open it for tourists. There must be lots of people who are curious to know what a governor's house looks like and what a governor's bed looks like,' he said, as quoted by kompas.com.
He added that he would stay at his private residence in Pantai Mutiara in Pluit, North Jakarta.
Ahok, previously East Belitung regent, said that he had opened his official residence to the public in East Belitung, Bangka Belitung, during his time as East Belitung regent.
'I also opened up my official residence to the public when I was regent. [...] We'll do the same here,' he said.
However, Ahok said he had not finalized the details yet, and apart from opening it as a tourist attraction, he wished to entertain guests and hold events at the official residence.
