cting governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama underwent a shooting drill at the Army Strategic Reserves Command's (Kostrad) headquarters on Jl. Merdeka Timur in Central Jakarta on Monday.
'I chose to take the shooting drill at Kostrad [headquarters] because I heard that the shooting range was indoors and has been recently refurbished. Besides, Kostrad also has a new kind of pistol and I wanted to try that, too,' Ahok said in Jakarta on Monday.
Ahok fired up to 20 bullets with a SIG Sauer p226 pistol, a firearm used by armies worldwide, while at the shooting range with Kostrad commander Maj. Gen. Mulyono. A picture of Ahok focusing on a target was published on his Instagram account @basukibtp.
Ahok said that becoming governor was not his reason for taking the shooting drill.
'It is better [...] not to take a shooting drill, so that when you open fire to shoot at someone's foot, [if] the bullet hits his head then it will not be your fault. If you are trained to shoot, you will be criminalized when you want to shoot at someone's leg but the bullet accidentally hits his head,' he said jokingly.
