he Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) weakened by 1.15 points to 5,072 in the opening session on Thursday morning, while the index of the most liquid LQ45 stocks fell by 0.28 points to 863.18.
"The JCI weakened after the announcement by the US Federal Reserve to stop the quantitative easing of the US finance stimulus," Tiesha Narandha Putri, an analyst at Samuel Securitas, said as quoted by Antara news agency, adding that Asian stock exchanges gave mixed reactions to the announcement, the Nikkei strengthened while the Hang Seng declined.
Chief researcher of Valbury Securities, Alfiansyah, said the statement by Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro that the government would announce fuel price hikes by the end of this year had created more fiscal room.
"However, the government has not given details of the hikes and when the announcement will be made," he said. (hhr)
