fter Bekasi, the Tangerang municipality is now asking the Jakarta administration for a grant of Rp 1.5 trillion (US$123.58 million) for a transportation project.
Acting Jakarta governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said Wednesday that the funding would be used to construct an elevated Transjakarta bus lane in Ciledug, Tangerang. The lane will be an extension to the Tranjakarta corridor connecting Blok M in South Jakarta to Ciledug.
'It is not problem for me as long as the project proves beneficial for the capital city,' Ahok said, as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi previously met with Ahok and proposed a sum of Rp 250 billion that would be used for several projects, including the construction of a new road and the maintenance of existing roads in order to improve access to the Bantar Gebang landfill, where all of Jakarta's garbage is taken.
