A

cting governor Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama has criticized Jakartans who neglect the environment by casually throwing trash wherever they please.

He said littering was committed by people in all layers of society.

'€œJakartans do not care and are ignorant. They do not feel guilty for littering. Those riding in luxury cars throw banana peels wherever they like,'€ he said during the planting of 55,000 seedlings in a mangrove forest area in Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta, on Sunday.

Ahok, who will be sworn in as governor soon, also criticized motorists who throw toll road payment receipts out their windows.

'€œAfter paying the toll, motorists do not keep their receipts but dispose of them on the road, adding more trash to the environment,'€ he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
