The colors of copper, ash brown and golden brown decorated the catwalk of the recent Jakarta Fashion Week as models presented a new look for hair brand L'Oréal Professionnel called 'IT LOOKS'.
The show began with a hairstyling demonstration from four local brand ambassadors ' Andy Lie, Arie and Harry, Irwan Doke and Lie Kuang ' and Cristophe Gaillet, the brand's international hairdresser ambassador.
As soon as they returned backstage, models appeared in messy, huge bun hairstyles. Some showcased high ponytails, classic ombrés, long bob cuts and French braid hairstyles.
The models presented a total of 30 looks, donning costumes made by three local designers: Identite, Jenahara and Cynthia Tan.
The company's general manager, Michel Toth, said the looks were adapted from the hairstyles of models on runways, celebrities on red carpets and fashionable people on the streets.
The creators of the Fall/Winter looks are hairstylist Seb Bascle, who has styled celebrities such as Heidi Klum, Keira Knightley and Salma Hayek; and hair colorist Frédéric Mennetrier, whose works have been published in top fashion publications such as Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire.
Indra Tanudarma, the company's education manager, said the first look was ash-blonde wavy hair that featured asymmetrical bangs that often appeared in fall/winter fashion shows such as Chloé, Yves Saint Laurent and Alexis Mabille.
'The long hairstyle with bangs reminds us of the 1970s star Jane Birkin. Combined with a cool ash blonde or brown color, the whole look will create a natural effect that is suitable for the season,' he said.
He added that actress Amanda Seyfried and singer Taylor Swift also applied the same hair color with highlights in several areas to frame their faces.
However, ash blonde can be changed with ash brown so that it fits better with Indonesian women's hair type.
The second look, he said, was a pixie cut that would come in a softer version.
'This year, the front part of pixie will be a little bit longer, and the messy cut will make this haircut more interesting and give softness touch at the same time. By coloring the hair with copper color, women will look more elegant,' Indra said.
Meanwhile, the long bob, or lob, is the third look that is believed to be the popular choice of many women this year.
Indra said such a haircut would give someone a fresh, younger look and offered countless chances for modification.
'Warm colors with the shade of blonde will be a chic alternative to the real blonde that may be considered to flashy for women here,' he said.
Darker colors could be applied starting from the roots and the edges, combined with brighter colors to create a total modern look, Indra said.
'From what I've seen these days, a lot of models now have short hair cuts, pixies, short or long bobs. And that's refreshing, giving us many inspirations for new hairstyling,' he added.
