assanuddin University (Unhas) has suspended Musakkir, its vice rector for academic and student affairs, following his recent arrest for allegedly using crystal methamphetamine at the Grand Malibu Hotel in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

'€œProfessor Musakkir has been suspended from his position,'€ said Rector Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu on Saturday in a press statement, adding that the university had appointed Junaedi Muhidong as Musakkir'€™s acting replacement.

The university also suspended a lecturer, Ismail Alrip, who was also involved in the incident, as head of the university'€™s technical management unit (UPT) for legal aid.

Ismail and Musakkir are lecturers at the university'€™s law school. Both were arrested along with two female students as well as two men who were employees of a cafe.

'€œWe believe the police will be professional in processing this case. If the investigation result shows that both are proven guilty, then we will take decisive action in line with the law,'€ Dwia said.

Makassar Police spokesperson Comr. Mantasiah said that the officers had not yet determined the status of the six suspects. '€œWe are currently waiting for the result of tests of their urine, blood and hair from the South and West Sulawesi Police.'€
