Jakarta to hold int'€™l muay thai event

An international muay thai tournament is scheduled to take place at the Pertamina Simprug sports hall in Jakarta on Dec. 6.

The one-day tournament, tagged as Naksoo Muay Thai Fight, is being co-organized by Melbourne-based Dynamite Muay Thai and local Baan Muay Thai.

'€œI expect this tournament to instill concerns about Indonesian muay thai development,'€ Dennis O'€™dea, an Indonesian-naturalized Australian, said in a press release on Monday.

The event promoter and owner of Dynamite Muay Thai said he wanted the world to pay attention to Indonesian muay thai talents.

'€œIndonesian fighters deserve to attain sponsorship deals. I want to concentrate on this matter by giving Indonesian and Australian fighters opportunity for more exposure to the world,'€ he said.

Francois Mohere, the owner of Baan Muay Thai camp and chairman of Indonesian Professional Muay Thai, hails the event as a good occasion for local muay thai development.

'€œThis trust to hold an international tournament in Indonesia augurs well for our muay thai development,'€ he said.

The tournament will feature 14 classes of muay thai.
