9 arrested for fatal assault on sailor

he East JakartaPolice arrested nine men for their alleged involvement in the fatal assault ofa Navy officer in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, on Thursday.
First. Corp. Sugiyarto was beaten to death when he was attempting to help his friend whose motorcycle was being seized by the nine suspects who worked as debt collectors.
East Jakarta Police chief detective Adj. Sr. Comr. Ade Rahmat Idnal said on Friday that the nine men were still undergoing an intensive interrogation.
He said the incident happened when the victim's friend called him for help while the nine suspects were trying to seize his motorcycle since he had not paid the monthly installment.
Sugiyarto was stabbed in the chest and head with a sharp knife while his friend lost his right ear.
Ade said that several locals tried to help the two victims after the debt collectors escaped and took them to an adjacent hospital. Sugiyarto died on his way to the hospital from the loss of blood. His body was later sent to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital for an autopsy.
'We have spoken with 15 people including the nine suspects and several eyewitnesses,' said Ade.
