Ten of 256 suspected criminals detained at police headquarters have tested positive for HIV
Ten of 256 suspected criminals detained at police headquarters have tested positive for HIV.
The department head of the medical facility at the Jakarta Police, Sr. Comr. Musyafak, said on Saturday that HIV tests were voluntary and five prisoners had refused to undergo the test.
'We found that 10 people ' two women and eight men ' were HIV-positive,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
Musyafak said the prisoners with HIV would receive intensive medical treatment as well as psychological counseling. He revealed the prisoners would not be separated from other prisoners but would be supervised closely to prevent them spreading the fatal disease to others. (***)
