cademics have reminded teachers working in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) about the importance of maintaining cultural identity as part of their pedagogy.

'€œTeachers are like '€˜Hiri Bongkok'€™, or the main pillar of the Manggarai traditional house. The progress of East Nusa Tenggara is in the hands of competent teachers,'€ Ruteng Santo Paulus Teachers and Education Academy lecturer Hubertus Muda said during a seminar at the West Manggarai regency office in Flores, NTT, on Tuesday.

The seminar was held in commemoration of National Teachers Day, which fell on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, West Manggarai chapter of the Indonesia Teachers Union (PGRI) head Felix Beda Tukan said teachers in West Manggarai regency still lacked adequate teaching methods, technology and creative capacity. (***)
