he Indonesian karate team failed to add gold to their tally after the kumite teams lost to Malaysia and Thailand in the finals on Saturday at the 17th ASEAN University Games (AUG) in Palembang, South Sumatra.
The failure consigned the hosts, with three gold, 11 silver and three bronze medals, to third place in the tally. Thailand topped the collection with seven gold, two silver and five bronze medals followed by Malaysia (6-2-6).
The Indonesian men's kumite team went down to Thailand while the women were beaten by Malaysia.
'We have to admit Malaysia and Thailand are the teams to beat,' said Indonesian men's ace Alin Sukma. He failed to emulate his earlier winning form that earned him gold in the men's singles kumite.
