any commuter train stations in Jakarta are not connected to other public transportation, leaving commuters with few options when choosing the transportation means to get to their final destination.
A transportation expert from the Indonesia Transportation Society (MTI), Danang Parikesit, said that such connectivity was very important as commuters should be able to rely on there being available transportation at a station to take them to their chosen destination.
Consequently, he said, many commuters had opted to use private vehicles, he said in a discussion on Saturday.
Danang said that although buses were cheaper than private vehicles, connectivity issues made people reluctant to take public transportation.
'For example, a passenger may take a bus from their home to the station. But upon arrival in Jakarta, because there isn't any public transportation at the station, the only option they have might be to take an ojek [motorcycle taxi], which could cost Rp 15,000 [US1.25],' he went on to say, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
