he Sukabumi District Court in West Java has sentenced child predator Andri Sobari, alias Emon, to 17 years in prison for molesting scores of children in Sukabumi City.
Judge Wahyu Prasetyo said that Emon was found guilty of violating Law No. 23/2002 on child protection, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years, in addition to Article 64 of the Criminal Code on repeated offenses.
'We sentence the defendant to a harsher punishment than that demanded by the state prosecutor because the case devastated many members of the public,' Wahyu said on Tuesday in Sukabumi, as quoted by Antara news agency.
Earlier this year, the families of at least 114 minors filed reports with the Sukabumi Police claiming Emon had abused their children, although the police said they suspected there were more. (***)
