Comments: '€˜Magic mushrooms'€™ are narcotics: Police

The Bali Police have warned all residents, as well as tourists vacationing on the island, to avoid consumption of '€œmagic mushrooms'€, stating it could lead to a prison term.

Your comments:

I still remember those mushrooms that convinced me I was about to leave Planet Earth, permanently! That was my first and last experience.

It'€™s actually more a poison than a drug and the effects are different for everyone. Personally I think it'€™s too risky to be sold unregulated on the street and should be banned. I think the treatment of the marijuana users by the law is way too harsh though. The real evil is methamphetamine.

Nate

The information not to sell or consume magic mushrooms should be disseminated to all people. It is nonsense if the polices arrest them if they don'€™t know that magic mushrooms are illegal.

So, there must be good communication between the people and the competent authorities to publicize it so as not to abuse magic mushrooms again.

Poppy Sarii

So, a few people behaving badly on mushrooms bring a ban. I can think of at least one other '€œdrug'€ which most people '€œuse'€ without incident but which encourages unstable people to do dangerous things. This, however, is vigorously defended. A messed-up world for sure.

Ketoprak

What? There are hundreds of magic mushroom places all over Bali, Lombok and Yogyakarta. Totally out in the open and advertising in the street. I have never heard of or seen anyone being arrested by the police.

Charles Jarret

I wouldn'€™t know myself of course, but my friend told me these mushrooms can cause serious paranoia, so that one becomes afraid to walk back to one'€™s hotel along the beach because everyone is watching. Silly isn'€™t it? After what my friend told me, I am not a fan.

If it is against the law, it is against the law, so they have been told, so book them. If you bring in narcotics from overseas, you know it is against the law. Enforce the law; the shop owners all know it is illegal.

Rick

I doubt if anyone will go to jail as it'€™s just another opportunity for the police to extract on-the-spot fines from tourists. It might be best to avoid consuming any variety of mushrooms with your meals while in Bali or else you might find a policeman standing over your plate accusing you of consuming the hallucinogenic variety. It would be up to you to prove your innocence by opening your wallet.

Goindo

As I heard it, magic mushrooms are like a drug that can render the consumer unconscious. It is dangerous for us so the police have to deal with it.

Renyayu

It would be better if there was no more tolerance because the effects of magic mushrooms are the same as narcotics. A person who consumes them can get a fever or hallucinations.
