etainee Amri, 34, involved in a theft case, fled from a cell block at Sukajadi Police station in Pekanbaru, Riau, by breaking through a bathroom wall on Friday at around 3 a.m.

Sukajadi Police station chief Comr. JM Manurung said the suspect had been locked up for 60 days and his dossier was about to be submitted to the prosecutor'€™s office for immediate trial.

It remains unclear how Amri broke through the bathroom wall. Amri fled in the dark while it was raining. '€œNo one heard when he broke the wall. None of the other inmates claim to know when Amri carried out the act,'€ said Manurung, adding that the surveillance camera in front of the detention cells had not recorded Amri'€™s actions.

Pekanbaru City Police chief Sr. Comr. Robert Harianto said that the incident was pure negligence on the part of officers and they were questioning those who were on duty on the night of the incident.
