emocratic Party deputy chairperson Nurhayati Ali Assegaf says former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is the best figure to lead the party and that his son, Edhie Baskoro 'Ibas' Yudhoyono, is not yet up to the task.
'I don't believe Ibas is ready yet. He should concentrate on leading the faction,' Nurhayati said as quoted by tribunnews.com, referring to Ibas' current position as leader of the party's faction at the House of Representatives.
Nurhayati, a former Democratic Party faction leader who was dismissed from her position following a disastrous vote regarding direct elections at the House last year, said that with his experience as the country's sixth president, Yudhoyono could continue to bring stability to the party.
The Democratic Party is expected to elect a new party chairman early next year.
