'The victim, Yudha Aritama, died after lapsing into a coma for several days. He suffered 90 percent burns,' PT Krakatau Posco corporate secretary Christiawaty Ferania Kaseger said over the phone as quoted by Antara news agency on Saturday.
She said the body of the victim had been sent to his hometown in Citangkil district, Cilegon, on Saturday for burial.
Meanwhile, the condition of M. Rejeki Febiansyah, another victim who is also being treated at the same hospital, was reported to have improved. Christiawaty said Rejeki was expected to be able to return home in the next couple of days.
The explosion, which occurred on Dec. 15, left seven workers, including Yudha and Rejeki, with burn injuries from molten steel and caused serious damage to the building in the steel-making plant.
The blast is believed to have been triggered by water entering the blast furnace. (***)
