All flights from and to Mutiara SIS Aljufri Airport in Palu were cancelled on Monday because of bad weather.
Affan Nugraha, a weather forecaster at the airport, said haze had covered Palu and surrounding areas, decreasing visibility in the airport to 2 to 4 kilometers from a minimum of 5 kilometers needed for safety.
'The weather in Palu is bad. It could endanger flights,' Affan told The Jakarta Post.
He predicted the bad weather in the city could continue until the middle of next month.
Airport head Benyamin Noah Apituley said air operators had postponed their flights, and would resume them as soon as the weather permitted. 'The planes are remaining, for now, at Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar,' Benyamin said.
