ndonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (Hipmi) chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari has said that business people in the creative economy sector are confused as to how to further develop the industry after President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo removed the sector from the remit of the Tourism Ministry.
Raja said that Hipmi and the creative industry players were now approaching a number of ministers to help regulate and develop the sector.
'The players are very confused and we need to resolve this issue immediately because there are 15 types of industry in the creative economy sector,' he said as quoted by kontan.co.id on Wednesday.
Jokowi separated the creative economy portfolio from the previous tourism and creative economy ministry, which was established under then president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
When announcing his Cabinet, the former Jakarta governor promised that the agency handling creative economy would report directly to him as president and not to related ministers.
The agency, however, has yet to be established.
Raja said that some of players came under the Industry Ministry while others fell under the remit of the Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry.
'We have not seen any clear coordination how to develop the creative economy industry,' he complained. (nfo(+++)
