JCI rises slightly at Monday'€™s close

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed on a positive note on Monday rising slightly by 0.07 percent to finish at 5,152.09.

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) data showed that 136 stocks strengthened in the final trading session, enough to beat 141 stocks that weakened and 95 stocks that remained stable by 4 p.m. on Monday, kontan.co.id reported.

Shares in seven out of 10 sectors traded on the IDX successfully recorded growth during the closing trade, with miscellaneous industry leading the list, jumping by 1.32 percent.

Meanwhile, shares in three sectors failed to make improvement, with basic industry suffering the biggest fall, dropping by 2.33 percent, followed by infrastructure and agriculture, which fell by 0.97 percent and 0.59 percent, respectively.

Total trade between the lunchtime and 4 p.m on Monday was worth Rp 5.7 trillion (US$450.3 million), involving 6.3 billion shares.

Shares of blue chip companies listed on the IDX that saw the highest increases in the final trade were PT Global Mediacom (BMTR), PT Pakuwon Jati (PWON) and PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur (ICBP). (nfo)(++++)
