em>Your comments on simultaneous regional direct elections that will begin soon following the endorsement of two related regulations in lieu of law (Perppu) to reinstate direct elections for regional leaders by the House of Representatives:

Although we all know that in direct elections, money politics plays an important role for the grassroots, it'€™s still better than if the regional leaders were voted in by corrupt local councilors.

So I support the direct ones, with all the advantages and disadvantages. The direct elections are a core part of democracy.

I think we need to develop our democracy, while at the same time we also need to have anti-discrimination laws.

Ferril Irham Muzaki

'€œSimultaneous regional direct elections will begin within days'€ is in fact a victory for the free; dodging the potential problem of a repeat of performances like those of the previous corrupt governments.

In fact we should know how to employ the services of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to screen all government officials so they all have clean hands.

Let no government official make use of his function to serve his personal aggrandizement only to jeopardize the people'€™s desire for progress.
