he Atambua District Prosecutor's Office has named Belu regency's Housing and Public Works Office housing division head Yustinus Berek as a graft suspect in relation to the presidential directive of the Independent Housing Stimulus Assistance Program (BSPS) in 2012.
'Berek was named a suspect based on a number of pieces of evidence we obtained related to the BSPS program,' said Atambua Prosecutor's Office head Roberth M. Tacoy by phone from Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Tuesday.
He added that Berek served as head of the BSPS technical team in 2012, so he was named a suspect in connection with his duties and responsibilities.
Through the BSPS program, 720 low-income families received new homes and 6,160 families had their homes renovated in Belu and Malaka regencies, located on the border between Indonesia and East Timor.
The central government, through the former public housing ministry, disbursed Rp 44.8 billion (US$3.7 million) for the program. (***)
