ekasi Police have shot dead three armed robbers as they tried to steal a motorcycle parked at Grand Shophouse City Walk in Jatisampurna district.
"They were killed in a shootout with police officers,' Bekasi Police chief Sr. Comr. Rudi Setiawan said on Wednesday as quoted by Antara news agency.
The shootout started when the suspected robbers resisted arrest, with one of them opening fire at the police officers, who arrived following a tip-off from local residents.
The three suspected robbers were identified as Decky Chan, 21, Rohim, 29, and Samsudin, 25.
"In the shootout Decky Chan was killed instantly, Rohim attacked the police while Samsudin ran away," Rudi said.
The police managed to catch Rohim and forced him to take them to the hideout of Samsudin.
Shortly after arriving at the hideout of Samsudin in Cileungsi, Bogor, West Java, the police were involved in a firefight with Samsudin.
"As Rohim again attacked the police, we forcibly shot dead the two suspects in Cileungsi," Rudi said.
The police also seized four homemade firearms, 14 bullets, four motorcycles and a mobile phone from the suspects. (hhr)
