resident Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is scheduled to visit three ASEAN countries between Feb. 5 to Feb. 9 to boost economic and trade cooperation with the countries.
He will visit Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines on a four-day trip.
'These are more than just friendly visits, these are bilateral state visits. The purpose of these visits will be to boost economic cooperation [between Indonesia and the countries],' Deputy Foreign Minister AM Fachir said on Friday as quoted by Antara news agency.
Jokowi will meet with the leaders of the countries during his visits, namely Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Philippine President Benigno Aquino III.
Fachir added that preparations were being made for the visits, which will be the first bilateral visits to Southeast Asian countries for Jokowi. (dyl/nfo)(++++)
