Your comments on the South Jakarta District Court'€™s decision to uphold the legal challenge of National Police chief candidate Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan against the Corruption Eradication Commission'€™s (KPK) move to declare him a graft suspect:

Indonesia has a corruption emergency. People are dying because others are stealing state funds that should be used for health care and emergency services.

It'€™s a sad ending. With this precedent, more corruption suspects like former religious affairs minister Suryadharma Ali and former energy and mineral resources minister Jero Wacik will do the same thing.

I'€™m sure President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widod knows very well that intimidation tactics are being used against KPK investigators. Who are the perpetrators? The police know best.

It'€™s truly bizarre. The sheer lack of any sort of shame is beyond my comprehension.

If the KPK can overturn Sarpin'€™s decision at the Supreme Court, I think we all know who'€™s going to be next.

I'€™d love to see that judge'€™s bank account, before and after the pretrial hearing.

Keep dreaming; this will drag on for years. They are all friends of friends, they are all connected; they'€™re family and they rig promotions.

If one falls it will be a domino effect and they all know it.

There'€™s been no reaction from the people. I'€™m pessimistic to be honest. The situation will sink deeper and deeper before a positive reaction will arise. And as you said, the House will choose a bunch of sheep as new KPK commissioners, once the elite is finished with the current commissioners. Then it will be business as usual for the corrupt elite. I guess that'€™s part of the plan.

The President cannot be impeached as his position in the presidential system is very strong.

Moreover, he was elected directly by the people. No institution in this country is able to shake his position.

Even if the People'€™s Consultative Assembly, the Red-and-White Coalition or the Great Indonesia Coalition in the House join to impeach him, it will not shake him.

The President can be relieved of his position only if he undertakes corruption, treason or another major criminal act. The President has been very firm about the law and has never been indecisive in responding to the standoff between the National Police and the KPK.

He always lets the case be processed in the court although public opinion urges him to make decision on this matter as soon as possible.
