ity owned slaughterhouse company PD Dharma Jaya aims to increase the meat supply from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to the administration by 9 percent from the current 3 percent.
Marina said there was a big demand for meat in Jakarta, around 161 tons per day.
'We recorded that from December to January, NTT could only supply 60 tons or 1-3 percent of Jakartans' needs,' she said on Thursday.
Dharma Jaya president director Marina Ratna Kusumajati said her company would provide 1,000 cows for fattening and another 1,000 for breeding, in the first phase of cooperation between the two provinces.
'For fattening, we can see the results in three to four months, but it takes longer to see the breeding results,' she said.
According Marina, the company would cooperate with local farmers.
'We will ask them to join our system so we can have the same standards,' she said.
