panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court has postponed its verdict in a case centering on damaged Transjakarta buses.
Presiding judge Supriyono said on Thursday that the verdict would be delayed for seven days until Mar. 7.
'We aren't ready to deliver the verdict. How if we delay it until next Friday?' he asked defendants Drajat Adhyaksa and Setyo Tohu, who nodded in agreement.
Drajat and Setyo were senior officials at the Jakarta Transportation Agency. Last May, the Attorney General's Office named Drajat a suspect in his capacity as budget authority holder, while Setyo served as head of the bus procurement tender committee.
In 2013, the administration bought 644 Transjakarta buses from China, but allegations of irregularities arose when media reports revealed some of the buses were damaged.
The damaged components included power-steering parts, engine mounts, machine pulleys and air filters. The buses' water coolant tanks were leaking, windshields were broken, dashboard instruments were unscrewed and air-conditioning units were faulty.
