Islands in focus: Eleven Pasaman residents missing in forest

T

he West Pasaman Regency Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) team in West Sumatra has been searching for 11 residents who were reported missing in the regency'€™s Barisan forest on Sunday.

The residents of Nagari Tanjung Beringin, Lubuk Sikaping district went into the forest on Saturday to find another resident, named Bujang. Bujang returned on Tuesday but the 11 people have not been seen since.

Bujang said he entered the forest on Saturday to check on 29 traps for wild goats he had earlier set in the forest. He got lost but managed to find his way out.

Pasaman BPBD head M Sayuti Pohan said the 11 residents were feared to be in a weak condition as they had not brought much food with them.

'€œWe have cooperated with police and the Indonesian Military to continue searching for the 11 residents,'€ Sayuti said on Wednesday.
