This refers to an article titled '€œKPK to focus on Century, sidelines BLBI,'€ (The Jakarta Post, Feb. 27).

President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo needs to understand some reality and set this nation and its corruptors on their ears. The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) is running around thinking they are so big and strong because they got their presidential candidate elected.

The PDI-P and Megawati treat Jokowi like he wouldn'€™t be where he is now without them. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Both the PDI-P and Megawati are sitting in their current chairs because of the popularity of Jokowi and the hope he inspired in citizens of Indonesia as presidential candidate.

The PDI-P owes Jokowi everything. Without him they would have never gotten the numbers they did and all the other political positions. Jokowi needs to wake up and tell those rodents that it is he who is President and it is he who will lead this country into the future with the backing of the common man, who is firmly in his corner.

Make no mistake, if Jokowi approaches the citizens of Indonesia and asks for their support to clean up a mess, he will certainly get it. He needs to point his finger at some people that see themselves in positions of power in which they shouldn'€™t be and inform them that he is no one'€™s puppet. In fact, they will follow him or they are out the door.

He needs to look again at the Cabinet and keep the ones that support his plans and eliminate and replace those who don'€™t. Eliminate party favoritism and put in personnel that have experience in their respective fields.

He needs to start taking a stand against corruptors at the highest level. Fire them and then let law enforcement institutions take care of the rest.

Make all civil servants sign affidavits swearing they are clean and understand what repercussions will await them if they are anything other than clean.

The President needs to stand tall and support any investigation into wrong doing no matter who it is against. Corruption is corruption.

Dirty deals have no place in a better Indonesia of the future. It will take a hard, firm stand but the people will support him if he goes out in front of them and asks for their support directly.

People admire someone with a back bone and who can stand on his own two feet without any strings attached.

That is who everyone voted for, is it not?
