President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo left the country on Saturday to kick off his seven-day trip to Japan and China in an effort to boost Indonesia's economic cooperation with the two Asian economic giants.

Good luck trying to get a trade surplus with Japan. They are among the toughest negotiators. Australia runs at a trade surplus and we are their second largest market for their goods.
If the intention is for Japanese companies to manufacture in Indonesia then to export a large percentage of white and brown goods to Australia, then that at this time presents a problem.
If the deal is for resources then there is no problem, but resources are not labor intensive and do not take advantage of a large affordable workforce and do nothing for unemployment or standard of living. Indonesia needs investment capital for infrastructure to fulfill needs and election promises.
