orontalo Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Lisma Dunggio said the trial for a defamation case involving Gorontalo Governor Rusli Habibie would commence next week.

Rusli has been named a suspect in a defamation case against the then Gorontalo Police chief Sr. Comr. Budi Waseso, who is currently the National Police'€™s Crime and Intelligence Agency head.

Lisma said the Gorontalo High Prosecutor'€™s Office had submitted the dossier and evidence to the court.

She added Budi Waseso was expected to attend the initial trial.

Rusli was named a suspect by the Gorontalo Police for allegedly insulting Budi when he was Gorontalo Police chief in 2013. Rusli had allegedly lobbied the National Police headquarters and asked that Budi be dismissed.

Rusli has been charged with violating articles of the Criminal Code and could face up to four years in prison if found guilty.
