PPP'€™s Romahurmuzziy camp seeks reconciliation with rivals

T

he Romahurmuzziy camp elected in the United Development Party'€™s (PPP) Surabaya congress has said it is hoping to reconcile with the Djan Faridz-led camp elected in the Jakarta congress, ahead of this year'€™s simultaneous local elections.

'€œWe are seeking to reconcile with those that participated in the Jakarta congress ahead of the elections,'€ Romahurmuzziy camp secretary-general Qoyyum Abdul Jabbar said here on Sunday.

He, however, said that although his camp was seeking reconciliation, it would depend on the Djan Faridz camp.

'€œThere will be no reconciliation without their acceptance,'€ he said as quoted by Antara news agency.

He stressed that according to a ministerial decree issued by the law and human rights affairs minister recently, his camp was valid because the Surabaya congress was attended by 72 percent of the party'€™s functionaries.

He said his party aimed to win 75 local elections but he declined to mention his party'€™s strongholds in provinces, regencies and municipalities.

Like the Golkar Party, PPP split when their elites were divided over a number of issues, including the organizing of its national congress held once every five years.

Simultaneous local elections are set to be held in December 2015. (rms)(++++)
