entral Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said on Wednesday the main Jakarta-Yogyakarta highway via Brebes Purwokerto, which was blocked by a landslide on the Ciregol stretch in Brebes, would be passable a week after the disaster.
Ganjar said a new route was being constructed around the contours of a hill 4.7 kilometers from the Ciregol road, which was hit by the landslide on April 11.
'We set aside Rp 8 billion (US$600,000) to make the temporary route so the highway could be passable again on April 20. So, don't worry, as it won't be long before residents can engage in every activity and economic access can return to normal,' said Ganjar.
