AKARTA: The Jakarta administration will reduce grants to several organizations in order for the city budget to fit the amount of the 2015 budget approved by the Home Ministry, which is set at Rp 69.28 trillion (US$5.3 billion).
Financial and Asset Management Board head Heru Budi Hartono said the grants could be cut by half from the previous allocation of Rp 1.3 trillion.
'For example, we will reduce grants for the TIM [Taman Ismail Marzuki] arts center and the DKJ [Jakarta Arts Council],' Heru told reporters at City Hall on Friday.
Last year, TIM and the DKJ each received Rp 6.5 billion. This year, he said, they would each receive Rp 5 billion. The city had previously proposed a 2015 budget of Rp 72.9 trillion. The Home Ministry, however, later approved the budget at Rp 69.28 trillion for efficiency.
