refer to an article titled '€œHouse asks for special police guard,'€ (The Jakarta Post, April 14, p1).

Another symbol of disconnection with reality, but worse, a gap or disconnect from the very people they claim to represent. Their fear for safety and security is misplaced.

The more our politicians are genuinely seen as responsive and ardently advocating the people'€™s interests, the more they will be respected and appreciated.

The notable increase in societal discontent that is being misinterpreted as the basis or cause for increased security/police guards is a result of the flagrant abuses, wasteful power struggles and corruption the people experience, see and read about. The formation of a new special police force is not in keeping with the spirits of reformation, efficiency and austerity in government services. Not a smart idea.
