embata Police apprehended 15 people, including the chief editor of the now apparently defunct weekly.net online media outlet, Sandro Wanggak, for their involvement in damaging a house in Jontona village, Ile Ape district, East Nusa Tenggara on Sunday evening.
'He [Sandro] got emotional because of the death of his relative, Linus Lotan, who was murdered by a group of people, one of them [allegedly] Stef Lodan, whose house was torn down,' the police spokesman Adj. Comr. Agus Santosa said on Monday.
Agus said Sandro and his 14 friends were still being detained at Lembata Police office. Police have also detained nine people who were believed to have been involved in the murder of Linus.
The head of the advocacy division of the Alliance of Independent Journalists' (AJI) Kupang, Adi Rianghepat, said he supported the police action against Sandra. 'If there is enough evidence, the police should process the case.'
