The EU's top immigration official on Tuesday said the bloc was 'concerned' by its existing asylum regulations and was looking at ways to amend them with large numbers of migrants fleeing conflict crossing the Mediterranean.
'I know the Greek government is concerned by [the regulations] ' the European Commission is also concerned,' European migration commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos said during a visit to Athens.
Your comments:
Arrival in any one European country is not the crux of the matter. Refugees escaping violence in their own countries must accept asylum in the first country that is considered by the UN to be 'safe'.
To use the excuse of being of refugee status does not entitle the person to further travel to a country of choice.
From that point, they have lost their 'refugee' status and become economic or cultural immigrants and must then comply with the immigration policy of the country to which they aspire.
There is not one country within Europe nor any neighboring country that is not 'safe' with the exception of places like Libya, which has become a haven of Islamic fundamentalists, but even Libya must be reached through other safe countries.
To travel to Libya from any other African state is to choose a route that they perceive to be a quick route to Europe given the current IS policy to flood Europe with refugees.
The EU has a duty to its citizens to protect them from a deliberate policy of demographic change that suits only the plutocrats who can protect themselves from any detrimental effects by simply raising barriers behind which they can maintain their own lifestyles without regard for those outside the barrier.
However, the application of 'duty' requires a level of conscience that the EU hierarchy does not possess.
They have become inured to the fate of the 'lower classes' and do not care about the consequences.
Until sufficient numbers of people realize this situation, they are complicit in the demise of their own cultural heritage.
